Best Gym Shoes of 2019

Shoes can make or break your training experience. It’s convenient to use the same pair of shoes for everything – walking, running and gym. However, it’s best to have a pair of shoes that you can use just for the gym. Many benefits come with using a good pair of gym shoes. Body Society will share with you the best 5 gym shoes for 2019. But first..

Getting that Perfect Fit

Fit of a shoe, be it for gym or running, is imperative to get right. If the fit is wrong, then what’s the point? For running, we tend to accommodate extra space for our toes. They need to fit nicely to support the ankle and deal with the shock impact. Whereas gym shoes need to be tight and more supportive of your joints and muscles.

Vital Attributes

When lifting weights, it’s important that you have a firm, flat grip on the ground. This ensures proper form and that your stance offers you a safe grip — especially if you are lifting heavy. Don’t wear your thick-soled running shoes in the weight room. Instead, stay with flat-soled shoes to keep your training routine safe and effective.
Get a pair that provides support to your muscles and joints, giving you better stability during unilateral movements and also providing a reliable platform for lifting heavy weights.

1) New Balance 623

This training shoe is of a sturdy design, made entirely of leather and suede with high arch ankle support and added support in the form of laces. It has a soft insole which means your feet will be comfortable as they are supported inside and out.

The sole is made with rubber that offers a shock impact feature so that you can train hard and not worry about injuring your feet, ankles or calves. Do give it a try!

2) Nike Metcon 5

By far the best gym shoes Nike has ever made. The Flywire lacing helps lock down your midfoot, functions like midfoot strap you see on various weightlifting shoes. And just like those shoes, there’s a slightly wider heel area allowing you to create a more stable lifting platform with your feet.

Nike includes a pair of “Hyperlifts” with every pair. These heel wedges are to be placed in the shoe when you train. Inserting them immediately brings the Metcon 5 that much closer to a weightlifting shoe.

It’s a great shoe for various barbell movements like Squats, Deadlifts and Power Cleans. Check them out yourself!

3) Reebok Crossfit Nano

Reebok has created here an excellent option for a gym shoe. It is strong and comfortable due to its rubber sole and synthetic outer layers. The sole includes grip features – you can train on all terrains without worrying about getting injured.

Built for high impact workouts, taking into consideration the strain on your toes and your ankles and heels through its clever design and soft insoles.

The laces and high arch allow for extra support for your ankles and this shoe can be used for long periods of time without causing discomfort. Definitely a great option for workouts!

4) Under Armour Tribase Reign

The Tribase Reign is the brand’s first attempt to create a devoted shoe for the gym. It features a 2mm heel drop, which brings you closer to the ground, preventing possible ankle sprains during lateral movements. These shoes are extremely stable – your feet won’t rock and you’ll be able to focus on your form!

Despite the low heel drop and flat base that comes with it, there was enough underfoot cushioning to protect your feet against impact when you’re doing explosive movements! It also has amazing traction which prevents you from slipping when you’re doing your lifts! Definitely a good pair for the brand’s first ever attempt.

5) Adidas CrazyTrain Elite

Adidas released a great shoe this year with the CrazyTrain Elite! Perfect for explosive movements as it’s extremely responsive. The midsole does a great job attenuating shock from landings better than most shoes without being cushy. Which means it’s much safer for ankle and knee joint!

The midsole also doesn’t compress even under the heaviest weights, giving you an extremely solid platform to lift with. And the built in heel counter keeps your foot in place, giving you tons of lateral stability. Definitely worth checking out!
